Sawfly - urrgh

Wet weather scuppered the camping holiday a bit - and my plans to hit the allotment today - its tipping down here. Yesterday was pretty nice so i spent half a day sorting the back garden. Noticed that the gooseberry bush has been stripped of foliage. I'm guessing it was sawfly, but a quick search didn't show up any caterpillars - probably nothing left to devour. Whatever, its likely to affect my crop next year. Bah and humbug.

The raspberries have done very well this year - my best fruit by a long shot. I've taken lots of rootings from the bush and will stick a load down on the allotment.

One apple from the cox's pipin in the front garden, one pear in the back garden - the pear didn't seem to produce any fruit at all, the apple tree just saw the small fruit fall off at an amazing rate. Need to research why that might have happened.
